sisters believed that the young man was no longer safe in the forest, so he decided to leave. He joined a group of traveling performers and learned many skills from them. One day, a vagabond attacked them, wounding several performers and sending others fleeing for their lives. The attacker tried to capture him but failed, asking his name as he did so. The young man proudly replied: "My father is the great Gumar."

The attacker suddenly embraced him tightly, tears streaming down his face. He revealed himself to be Fiaciu, a high-ranking officer under Gumar's command who had vowed revenge after his leader's death.

Fiaciu brought the young man back to his humble hut by a marshy area and showed him an old spear once wielded by Gumar but recovered from Moyn Family hands after that battle.

The boy lived with Fiaciu for some time before continuing on his journey alone again.

He arrived at Lake Cullen where he formed close friendships with boys who were fishermen's sons; they called him Feon (meaning "Golden-haired Child"). Initially envied for being faster than anyone else in running or swimming or jumping over felled trees like deer,

Feon realized he needed to leave this place too.

He became an apprentice hunting dog handler at Lord Kelly's residence.

Lord Kelly soon discovered how exceptional Feon was and asked about his name; Feon just vaguely said:

"I'm just an ordinary farmer from Tara."

Lord Kelly looked closely at him before saying:

"You lie! You're not a farmer - you are the son of great Gumar!"

Feon had no choice but leave again.

One day while wandering through woods near Finnegas' hut

he found it empty except for one old wooden bowl filled with fish soup left behind by Finnegas

who then appeared from nowhere telling him there was something important waiting inside.

"Take it," Finnegas said sternly.
